Wear Dark Clothes: NY Light Painters, Thames Art Center, Brooklyn, NY, 03.18.2022

Featuring Chanette Manso and guest artists Eric Mellinger, Eva Mueller and Dee Light

Curated by Izzy Nova

ONE NIGHT ONLY in the Bushwick community- 'Cha' Chanette Manso (co-founder of French Light Painting League) and guest artists Eric Mellinger, Eva Mueller, and Mehdi Irhzal come together for an exhibition of images created with light-painting techniques; part photography, part performance, curated by Izzy Nova.

The exhibiting artists have worked beyond the naked eye, working invisibly to compose their pictures from both sides of the camera using an array of lighting devices to transform their subjects. Representing the multidisciplinary practices and personal aesthetics of each artist, the pieces on view are also informed by dance, calligraphy, photography, and creative programming to bring light to their subjects.

Wear Dark Clothes: Light Painters aims to share the local light painting community's makings and highlight the recent work of Chanette Manso, who will be exhibiting her long-exposure, multi-dimensional deconstructions of New York's landscapes taken during the pandemic. The exhibition will also include an installation of personal light painting artifacts, many customized for a particular image in mind, behind-the-scenes videos, and a unique app experience for insight.

Find out why creatives around the world cannot wait for the dark in this glowing event.
